THC vs CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD) or Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)? Big words for a convoluted and admittedly controversial topic. As things become more legalized, however, more and more people are becoming comfortable with the idea of cannabis. Maybe some have been curious to try the products. Heres a quick run down on what a first timer can expect to experience purely from a chemical standpoint.

CBD and THC are, chemically, pretty similar, yet vastly different in the way they effect the human body. THC attaches to CB1 receptors in your body to create the sense of “getting high”. CBD does not bind to these receptors and therefore there is the absence of a sense of high that for some can be too overwhelming. Overall that’s the largest difference between the two chemicals.

The benefits of both, as a result of being so chemically similar, are helpful in many of the same ways. Both can help alleviate symptoms of pain, nausea, anxiety, migraines, and inflammatory issues. CBD has been known to help with depression, and even seizures, while THC can help with appetite loss, no surprise there. Two helpful chemicals coming from one little green plant.
